InternetNZ has announced the dates and venue for the next NetHui South. Following on from the inaugural NetHui South held in Dunedin in 2012 and NetHui 2014 held in Auckland in July this year, this year’s NetHui South is to be held in Christchurch at the Jack Mann Auditorium at the College of Education, University of Canterbury in Ilam on 21 and 22 November. The 2020 Trust will again be supporting this event – look out for DORA, our mobile classroom. We started a discussion about digital inclusion at the recent Auckland NetHui and this has continued with a group of around 20 people coming together every two months to progress a digital inclusion agenda, initially for South Auckland. We hope to include a similar discussion at NetHui South for South Island communities. According to Census 2013, there are over 9000 households in the South Island with school-aged children that do not have access to the internet. 50% of these are in Canterbury. Get in touch if you are interested in engaging in this discussion by sending an email to Laurence Zwimpfer.
