New CEO appointed

Dr Warren Williams will take up the position from late September 2021.

Warren has been in the ICT business and tertiary education industry for over 25 years. He is the Chief Executive (Acting) and Executive Director of Operations at the Waikato-Tainui College for Research and Development, and the Director of Digital Taniwha Ltd where he provides digital strategy and digital/social media expertise to people and businesses.

He has a PhD in Strategic Management where his thesis was on increasing Māori participation within the IT industry, as well as an MBA with a focus on leadership. He is active in many Māori ICT special interest groups, as well as tribal and community groups. Read more about Warren.

Trust Chair, Marg McLeod, says she is thrilled to have appointed someone of Warren’s calibre, background, and experience to the 20/20 Trust.

“His passions, his vision, his strategy and process skills will advance the organisation in new ways. The Board has selected Warren as the right person to lead the Trust in our work to improve digital inclusion in Aotearoa.”

Warren says that he is honoured to be joining the Trust as its new Chief Executive as enabling people to participate in the digital world is not only important but is essential in a world that is ever-changing.

“The 20/20 Trust provides access and connection to digital skills and resources that empower and enable people to realise their aspirations. It has achieved positive change for individuals, families, communities, and Aotearoa New Zealand as a whole.”

“It is this purpose that resonated with me. I am passionate about service and leadership in the technology sector and motivated by the benefits of what digital skills can bring to communities. So, I look forward to being part of the 20/20 whānau and the exciting journey ahead.”
