Kāinga Connect


The Kāinga Connect programme provides training to Māori and Pacific People and people with disabilities based in Otepoti, Oamaru, Otautahi, Kirikiriroa, Manawatu, Te Tairawhiti, Tamaki Makaurau to become digitally included by attending digital inclusion workshops.

The agreement set for this programme was that the learners were digitally excluded Māori and Pacific People and people with disabilities. And the provisions of the programme were:

  • provide digital literacy skills programme to individuals and whānau
  • within the focus groups of Māori, Pasifika and disabled (self-identified as digitally excluded) people
  • undertake an evaluation process in accordance with an evaluation framework to understand the effectiveness of the programme and share the findings

Over 700 learners have been provided with a Chromebook, 12 months subsidised internet connection, as well as 30 hours of digital literacy training.
